I am considering buying a pair of monoblock amps in the 200W range to drive my mains. These would complement my 1050, which I am mostly happy with.

My default choice would be a pair of 200 M from Outlaw. But then I trip across these nice amps from AudioSource. They make both monoblock amps (with small fans) and bridge-able stereo amps (which I would use bridged, meaning I'd still buy two). They are comparably spec'ed (including weight!) to the Outlaws, get high customer satisfaction on the review boards, and cost slightly less. They are pure Class A, as opposed to AB/G (the 200s).

Please educate me on the similarities/differences of these two manufacture's small monoblock amps.

I just found a review of the audio source amp. I believe it is class A/B, not class A. A 150W call A amp would be quite a bit more. The amp had somewhat high THD (.3% at 10KHz) and was not as flat a freq response as the outlaws. The review is at www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_10_4/audio-source-amp-53-10-2003.html so take a peek for yourself.

i would have to agree that that is a lot of thd. also, i dont see a product as having or needing a fan to keep it cool as an advantage at all. i would say it is a detraction, because they should have spend more time designing a proper heat sink, instead of putting in a cheap, noisy fan.
