I just bought 7 monoblocks and noticed what I think is a slight design flaw....

The female end of the power cord has a loose fit to the male plug in on the amps. I found the cord giggling loose and the amps turning off. I had to reach around the rack and replug in the cord several times on various amps to keep them turned on. The fit should be snug, but it's not. I may try some electrical tape around the plug, so it fits better and doesn't come loose.

Anyone else notice this? Any suggestions? Aftermarket cord suggestions?

PS: I'm very happy with the amps performance, which is the THE MOST IMPORTANT factor.

Might try substituting a known good power cord for the loose one. I wouldn't go overboard in purchasing a new one: it won't make a difference as long as you get one that has a large enough gauge of wire.

Any suggestions of inexpensive power cords? Since we are talking about several-I'd hate to sink a lot of cash into cords.

Question for the group: the detachable cords used on the Model 200's look to be the same as the power cords used on PC's and computer monitors. Any reason for somebody like rboster not to experiment with the fit of a good, heavy PC or monitor power cord? I can't think of a reason not to (although I could be missing something), and it might give a better fit into the back of the amp if the included cords are giving him trouble.

There's absolutely no reason to not use a good computer power cord, providing that the gauge of the wire inside is at least as big as the original one. The cable should state the gauge on the outside with something like "16/3" Meaning 16 gauge and 3 conductors. Good 'ol RadioShack might have such cables. Just shake the cable a bit before use to release the computer data that adhere to the jacket

Hmmm. This happened to me, but upon closer inspection it turned out that the problem was that I hadn't pushed the cord in to the back of the amp all the way. If anything, I found that the fit was on the tight side, as a considerable amount of force was required to get the plug inserted properly.
