So there I was going thru the audio mags at Books a Million tonight and what do I see but a review of the NHT Evolution Speaker System in vol. 8 issue 5 of The Audiophile Voice. Let’s see, it includes a subwoofer with external xover and amp. There’s pretty good pics of the amp both front & back on page 62. That amp looks familiar. It's called the NHT A1. Description you ask …
Class G mono amp
W 17 in, D 11.5, H 2 in (hey, I’ve seen it called 1.5 and 1.75 in) (same size as the NHT xover)
Weighs 18 lbs
Power Rating (RMS): 200W into 8ohms, (250W into 6ohms, the NHT W1 sub is 6 ohms)300W into 4ohms
S/N ratio is 100 db
Input impedance is > than 10K ohms
Input sensitivity for full output is 1.7 volts
It even seems to have the same feet ….wonder if their level?

But wait, there’s a new spec:
Rated frequency response is 10 Hz to 65 kHz (+/- 3db)

What’s different … the A1 has both balanced and unbalanced inputs, a detachable terminal block for external trigger (but has the same trigger/signal sense/on capability) other than that the same rear panel layout. Front panel has three LED’s on the right side … lets see there for P(ower), S(tandby) & F(ault).

Oh yes, price $400 list.

The review conclusion seemed favorable (actually I haven't read it in detail) and they thought the amp/sub/xover combo worked well. I guess you folks using the Outlaw 200 amp to drive subs are on the right track.

I went to the NHT website for more info but it was down. A search of the internet did produce NHT A1’s for sale apparently from dealers stock.

Take a look at a small picture of the NHT A1 at http://www.audioreview.com/Amplifiers/NHT,A1/PRD_133032_1583crx.aspx
No price or reviews listed yet.

...and the NHT Evolution owners manual with lots of A1(200) pics/specs/and setup info including rack mount option and ?courtesy lights? .. did I read this right?

Any comment from the Outlaws?????????

Makes me wonder, also, why none of the Outlaw amps have ever had balanced inputs... Especially the monoblock...
