OK, gotta admit I'm tempted by the intro offer for this bad boy and I need something to complement my 750 for my upcoming 7.1 setup. I do have a question about "stacking", though.

Does the 200 require top-side ventilation? If not, is it acceptable to place an amp (750? haha!) or a preamp on top of two 200's (meaning can they support the weight) or are these items designed strictly to be rack-mounted with enough space in between for ventilation?

Thanks for your attention and thinking about providing an alternative upgrade path for us 750/755 owners who are looking for a cost-effective way to get to 7.1!

Sure would like to know the answer to this question. Can I stack my Elite 49TX on top of these? Can they stand a 64# weight load of the receiver plus the weight of two more amps?????? That would be 100# to be supported by the bottom amp!! Ventilation needs are a big factor in how to use these. My receiver needs about 8" free above the top for heat dissipation so it would have to be the top component in a stack.

I think it will definitely be interesting to see the manual for this one -- if it really can be stacked, they'll need to address ventilation needs around sides & back and weight carrying limitations. I would tend to think it would be advisable to not stack very much directly on one of these, since they seem too thin to have enough reinforcing to support something as heavy as a 60+ lb load.

Of course, my devious mind is thinking that two of these (to drive my two Studio/60's) could stack on the shelf presently used by the Parasound driving my surround back channel, and still be slightly shorter than the Parasound... Maybe next year I'll have some money for a pair of these to keep my 750 company.

It's not a good idea to stack anything on top of a component or components that generate much heat, such as a power amp. It blocks the vertical dissipation of heat from the power amps, and the heat is not so good for the DVD player or whatever is being 'heated'. Better to put a shelf a few inches above the amps so the heat can dissipate, and put the DVD player on the shelf.

They need to come up with a vertical stand like the PS2 has so you can line them up.

Well, it says on the M-200 page that these amps are "stackable" which should mean that the ventilation is not too much of an issue. WE NEED DETAILS !!!

There's a brief mention of situating the 200 vertically in this thread. Has anyone ever actually done this? There's no mention of this in the manual one way or another.

And before anyone says the feet are on the bottom, I realize this, but, sometimes placement lends itself to vertical orientation so that there's no weight from stacking or inhibited circulation.

The Model 200's should not be seated vertically. Damage may result. The 200's can be horizontally stacked up to 4 units high.
