C'mon Outlaws, what IS it? I'm guessing it's something semi-major, worthy of a month-long contest. I wonder if anyone got it right? There were a lot of good guesses. I honestly don't have any idea what it IS, although there are several things I think it COULD be.

I'm glad someone else got a kick out of my guess. As Matthew Hill mentioned in the original post, I had a bit too much spare time on my hands - hey, it was a slow day at work.

I'm an engineer. It was a punch list trip, but the job is sufficiently "sound sensitive" that they hired an acoustical consultant (even though we did the design for a smaller chapel on the same campus that is one of the quietest HVAC systems I've ever heard), so I had to take some time to help hunt for the source or some faint fan noise.

No update yet. I don't think you need to buy to get on the mail list. Until you mentioned it I didn't realize there was no way to simply register to be on the mail list. However if you select "Contact Us" at the bottom of this page and then click "Online contact form (fastest!)" the page you are brought to let's select to be added to the mail list.
