I have not pushed the 1050 yet, that happens this weekend. The most I have done is had it running at low volume for about 3 hours. What I have noticed is the unit gets pretty darn warm.

I have the 1050 in an Entertainment center on the top shelf. Their is 2-2.5" of clearance on the top. The front has a glass door, which I have been leaving open when I am watching TV/listening to the 1050. I cut out the back of the Ent. Center about 12" x 6" directly behind the 1050.

I have a 5" very quiet fan I can always connect at the bottom of the cabinet and blow in, then the hot air will be forced out, so long as I left the glass door closed. But is this necessary? I would need to get an X10 switch to turn the fan on everytime the 1050 was on, not a big deal I guess. I would then connect the lights with X-10 also. lol

I just want to know if the 1050 runs hot normally or if mine is running warm because it is in a cabinet.

Thanks.

Larry

It does run hot I don't think you need to worry. I did a quick search using simply "hot" as my key word and found quite a few threads on this topic so you may find searching for the answer to your questions is faster then asking them and waiting for a reply. I make the same mistake all the time so no complaint just a friendly helpful hint.

Here are two of the threads I found.
Air space for my 1050....

Good threads, desperado. The 1050 does definitely run fairly warm, so even when used at low volume you will find that it is noticeably warm to the touch (I experienced that even when I had a Model 750 providing the amplification, in fact). With 2+" of space above it and the door open, though, I would not expect it to be unusually hot for a 1050.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I know I should have searched, I get lazy as most people do. Besides, not much goes on here in terms of traffic and it is good to rehash old things every once in a while. lol

Gonk, I have other questions I will be more than happy to pose. Just think I have only been using the 1050 for 2 days, wait until it is truly setup and configured. lol

Yea, I also get lazy sometimes. For example I should be working right now

Feel free to post all your questions even the rehashed ones are interesting to read. Sometimes people have come up with new solutions to old problems and not done their civic duty and posted the new idea on the site. Asking questions sometimes gets them to reveal their secrets.

I have had my 1050 for about 4 months now and along with new speakers I can't believe how much I am enjoying the system. I enjoy this site a great deal also. It was a major factor in my purchase decision.
