Latest generation of Polks has been getting some good reviews lately (from the tidbits I've seen on some forums). Among the <$1,000 speaker systems that get a lot of positive feedback around here, some of the most notable are the Energy Take 5.2 that leeep mentioned, Boston Acoustics, DefTech, Paradigm, and I'm sure I'm leaving some out.
