Could someone compare the stereo sound that you would experience with a 990 Pre/Pro and two 2200 M-Block amps vs. the RR2150? I'm guessing the separate units would be better sound, but how much better? For stereo only use, would it be overkill to go the 990/2200 route?

Thanks.

This would be an interesting comparison, and it's one that I haven't heard anyone trying yet. For stereo only, the RR2150 has been garnering a pretty impressive reputation - I wouldn't discount it. If you have an analog source (turntable, ...), a digital source with really nice DAC's, or a really fancy separate DAC, the RR2150 (or 2150 plus separate amps) would be the most logical avenue. If your source is a simpler digital source (inexpensive CD player, DVD player being used for CD's, ...), then the 990 would provide you with a nice DAC plus the option for migrating to surround sound.
