I know you can couple a 1050 with a 750 and use the 1050 to drive the rear channel in 6.1 and was curious if anyone has done this and if you can do it with the 770?

I'm looking to bump up to 6.1 as I have a matched center to my Klipsch RF-3s that I can use for the rear channel that I used with my 1050 with a direct 5.1 feed with myold DVD player (since upgraded so no 6.1).

Thoughts or suggestions?

No reason you couldn't use a 770 -- it would be just like using the 755 (since the 750 is now only available used), just with the extra two channels. You could split the surround back channel into two and let the 770 drive two surround back speakers, or you can use it for 6.1 and just leave one channel idle for now (since you already have enough speakers for 6.1) and have it available down the road if you ever need it.

Gonk is absolutely right you can. I ran my 1050 for about 3 months on a 770 with remarkable results. I'm still running a 6.1 setup with the 950, with a new 7th speaker on it's way. A word of warning though. As you can see, this is snowball rolling downhill. Once you get started, it becomes a costly addiction. A person could have worse habits though.

Good luck. The 770 is a fine amp. Heavy as hell, but that just shows the build quality the outlaws are known for!

I thought to myself, I can just buy the AMP and then upgrade later...and use my 1050 in the meantime...

That would have torn me up, I know I would start looking to upgrade and would pretty much for sure gravitate back to outlaw for the 950, end up buying it and losing out on the $200 deal

I can't wait!

You won't be sorry and welcome aboard.

I hope you left enough credit line for those stocking stuffers.

As long as I get one that doesn't hiss (running Klipsch RF series all around), I'll be a happy camper!

Just a few...more...days...

The 950/770 combo seems to behave well -- so the odds are at least in your favor.

The thought crossed my mind when I see hiss posts around (several new in the last week) on other manuf. brand pre/pro and recievers.
If it wouldn't help owners of other products to try an Outlaw 770.
