I have a question regarding the outlaw 1050. I have had it for about 5 months and absolutely love it. I have built a pair of 3-way speakers, with a 12" woofer, a 5" mid and a 1" silk tweeter. I am currently using a passive 3-way XO. I would like to change to an active XO so that the woofer have their own amplifier. I was wondering if it is possible to use the outlaw to do all of this. I would like to have the signal come in from the CD player, then get split by the active XO in the 1050. The highs above the XO point would come out of the front L/R outputs. The Bass signal would come out of the sub-out at preamp levels. I would like to run this back in the pre-amp level inputs, and then out through the rear l/r's to the woofer section of my speakers. I am not sure how possible this is since I will have to be using two inputs at the same time.

My next best option would be to build an active XO using op-amps and a circuit board.

If you want to look at my speakers, go to:

Thanks,

The "two inputs" part is what will get you here. There's not a way to drive both the high and low portions of your speakers with the 1050 alone (not when using the 1050 to split the signal the way you are, anyway). If you had an outboard amp, you could use the 1050 to drive the highs and the outboard amp to drive the woofers. Be aware, though, that using the 1050 as you describe will give you a mono bass signal from the sub out (don't know if that's a problem or not).

Keep us informed on what you end up doing -- the speakers look sharp!

Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking of buying one of those 300W BASH digital sub amps and making a small enclosure for it. The mid/tweets do well down to about 80Hz, so the mono signal isnt a big deal at all.

Thanks,
Paul
