I am running my 770 through a Monster HTS 2500. I am having dedicated 20 amp circuits installed in my HT. Would I be better off just running the amp straight from the wall ? It seems that that I am not able to achieve as loud a volume as I should be able to with such a strong amp. Is there a wattage limit of some sort with the 2500? I was not able to find it if there is.
I don't normally listen very loudly but it's nice to know I could if I wanted to. Part of this may be due to the fact that my speakers are Polk Audio LSis ad 4 ohm(?)

Yeah I couldn't find any particular specs either. It just seems like I may be asking too much from it maybe since I have almost everything going through it. I emailed them so we will see what they try to say. I have to wait for my 770 to come back from a repair to check it out.

My HT room (i.e. living room) is on a 20 amp circuit. If I take the ratings from all the audio amps, I'm at around 4000 watts plus TV, DVD player, crossovers, lamps, etc. and I have never been able to pull more than 11 amps through the circuit, no matter how loud I played anything.

I think the HTS 2500 will work just fine but I agree with Wayne about plugging straight into the wall with the 770. By the way what happened to the 770 that it needed repair?

One of the speaker posts broke somehow during my move...most probably my fault. I guess I will probably just do one 20 amp circuit We will see how much it will be for two.

wingnut: disconnect your AC mains from the monster and plug them directly into the wall and run a test. See what happens.

I suspect that the monster is not causing you any problem, but, then again, you just never know.

However, I would STRONGLY recommend that you DO use some sort of surge protection. A close lightning strike can do BAD things to your electronic gear.

Yeah Wingnut first just try it and see, then go from there, but I do not think your Monstor is the problem. I am running the LSi 15 from a 3 year old Yamaha with 160 amps @ 4 ohms and I can blow my windows out. May you have some sort of hearing loss?

Ha ...with my job that could be. I will try just plugging in the amp to the dedicated outlet when it's done and I get the 770 back and report my findings.

Well, I got my HT kinda hooked back up now in the new house with the dedicated 20 amp circuit and I gotta say that my system now sounds better without the Monster . It did a really great job in my old townhouse with my electrical layout there but now with the new outlet I find that it constrains the dynamics too much.

It's funny that what was once one of the biggest improvements in my system now pulls it back a little. I can't say enough for the dedicated circut. Do it if you can.
