I am planning to buy the Thiel CS3.6 speakers, but I am not sure what amp to use with them. The Outlaw 990/770 combo looks like a great deal to me (when the 990 becomes available), but I am concerned about the impedance, sensitivity, and power requirements of the speakers.

The speakers are listed as 4 ohms (2.5 minimum).
Sensitivity is listed at 86 db @2.8 v-1m.
Recommended power is 100 - 400 watts.

I have very little understanding as to what all of this means. I do understand though that these speakers are hard to drive. Would the Outlaw combination work well for me, or do I need to look into higher end components?

I appreciate any advice.

4 ohm speakers are generally a more difficult load to drive, and the sensitivity is on the low side. That means that (1) the amp sections of many receivers may have difficulty driving the speakers well, and that (2) the speakers are likely to be most effective if given a good bit of power. The Model 770 would have no trouble with a 4 ohm load, and at that load it is rated at 300W per channel, which should be plenty of power for these speakers.
