If someone could provide me the current rating on these models, it would be greatly appreciated... I'm not sure if i'm going to buy 7 monoblocks or the 770... the 2 huge toroidal transformers from the 770 may develop more amps... i don't know but i would like to fing out if possible.

Outlaw's tech support may be better able to answer this one. My electrical background is somewhat basic, but from what research I've done I think that part of the question here will become "how is the amp (or amps) being provided with power?" A single 15A circuit dedicated to the 770 or a stack of seven M200's will impose a limit on how much output will be available. If you had two 15A circuits dedicated to the two stacks of M200's, you might be able to get more out than with a 770 that has its own 15A (or 20A) circuit.

Based on some discussions that have occurred here in the past, a single 15A or 20A circuit does not offer enough current to allow a solid state amp to produce 1400W (inefficiencies - which produce the heat we are all familiar with - take a significant share of the input, which on a 15A circuit is limited to 1800W). The reason that a 200W/channel multichannel amp like the 770 still works is that the channels with the greatest demands on them (mains and center) may have transient loads reaching 200W each, but the other four channels typically are significantly less loaded, making it unnecessary to have all channels driven to max at the same time. (As an aside, the planned Model 790 will reportedly be able to achieve 300Wx7 with all channels driven. It, of course, has two separate power cords, and to achieve 2100W of output it would presumably require two dedicated 15A outlets to draw from.)

its not very courteous to post the same topic in multiple threads...

thanks for your reply. i use three 15amps circuits for my ht.Ac is not really a big problems.i'm just curious how much current the 2 transformers offers versus how much the m200s will offer individualy.i'm no really sure if its the ouput transistors or the transformer that limits the current available but i'd like to find the max current limit or the hcc of the two amps. thanks

I'd definitely suggest going straight to the source for that one, if you aren't doing so already: Outlaw\'s Tech Support System . I don't know that the information you are looking for is in any of the documentation we have available to us, but I suspect they can tell you.

Assuming you are looking for Current (Amps) output of the amplifier, a quick approximate calculation may help: Power (Watts) = Current squared (I) X Resistance (R). Thus, I = Square Root of (Watts/R). Say the amp is 200 watts and you are driving into 6 ohm speakers, then: I (Current output) = Sq. Root (200/6) or 5.77 Amps at full output (200 watts). The formula is approximate because with audio we are dealing with AC signal circuits, not merely DC.

Not sure why you are asking for the amps the 770 can produce. Do you need to know for each channel driven seperately or all seven driven simultaneously? I had a H/K that stated it could supply +/- 35 amps instantaneously. So what! Why is this a concern for your purchase? If current demand is of a great concern, I would suggest mono blocks with dedicated ac circuits for each amp. Othewise, the 770 is definately a powerful amp that has always met my needs, (and I drive 6 outside speakers 100 feet away from the amp during the summer).

case: i understand ohm's law.But amplifier have reserves that are a result of capacitors... and i know that the 770 has a better uf ration per 200wchannels than the m200.

alejate: I am searching for exactly the same info that you provided for the h/k model but for the 770 and the m200.not wether its relevant or not...
I'm glad you like the power of the 770.For all i've read on the subject, 770 customers are all glad they bought the amp... I intend to use 4 monoblocks to power 2 12" dual-voice-coils (each 4ohms) and current available is a concern in my mind.I'm currently using two pa2000(130Wrms on each coils) and the subs are still asking for more...Anyway, 7 paid monoblocks are to be shipped as soon as the "infamous" ups canada strike stops.

After they arrive and you have them hooked up let us know your opinion on them. I am plaining on buying a pair this spring and would like to hear your comments based on your application. Thanks!
