I currently us Meadowlark Kestrel speakers or my fronts and Meadowlark Petrel for the center. My Rears are larger Energy's. I am looking for a new amp/processor set up with more power and all the new technology. Does anyone think that the 770 might be too much power for the Kestrels/Petrel? The manufacturer does not clearly state the max handling power for these speakers. I plan on pairing it with the 950.

In general, you're much better off with too much power than you are with too little power. I don't think it would be an issue, but perhaps you should contact Outlaw Sales and discuss it with them? I'm sure they help answer your question.

alaw417,

Not at all. In my HT System I am using the Shearwater Hotrods and a Petrel Center with an Anthem Amp 2 Hybrid tube at 200 wpc. I also use a Anthem MCA 3 for center and rears at 200 wpc. I recently bought a pair of Kestrel Hot Rods for my rears (or sides if I go for new processor) and I have been breaking them in up front with the Anthem Amp 2. I have not had a bit of problems. I am going to add a Outlaw M200 for my center channel as the MCA 3s are in the shop and will use the MCA 3s for the rear 2 channels when they get back. THe only suggestions I would make is to have a good sub for the movies as the Kestrels only go down to about low 40's and the Petrel about 52 from my memory.

Thanks for the input! I am very happy with the Kestrels and the Petrel front set up. They are very detailed and work together very well. I do have a pretty good sub for HT, an Alon 12", it seems to blend well with the Meadowlarks. I currently use an NAD c-270 2 channel amp rated a 120 wpc to power the Kestrels. For the center and rears I am using a Nakamichi AV-8 reciever rated at 80 wpc with all channels driven. I think the Nakamichi is delivering more than the 80 wpc since I am only using 3 of the 5 channels. Everything sounds pretty good right now but I am limited to just Dolby Digital for movies and I can't add a SACD or DVD-Audio player to the reciever. I think the Outlaw 770/950 combo will do the trick and give me even more pleasure in the long run. Thanks again for the input.

You're welcome. I own the Model 770. It's a phenomenal amplifier.
