I'm thinking of getting a 7 channel amp for my HT system. I have no complaints about my Onkyo 797 THX receiver, but want to put my Outlaw ICBM-1 bass manager between the Onkyo and an outboard 7 channel amp.

Reviewers speak highly of the 125 watt x 7 Anthem PVA7 and the 200 watt x 7 Outlaw 770.

So, Rodan v. Godzilla? Who wins?

---
System:
Onkyo 797 and Denon 85 watt x 2 channel amp for channels 6+7); Front Main Speakers Michaura M665s (like Axiom M60s), center Klipsch KLF C7, side surrounds - Michaura M66s (like Axiom M50s), back surrounds Mission 77ds, subs - Klipsch LF10 and Velodyne CHT100 - sources - Toshiba SD9200 DVD Audio and Digital Cable.

I've been wondering the very same thing. Do you think maybe we could get a more informative answer? Not only which would you pick, but also why.

simple, 770. I looked for several weeks and read all kinda reviews and listened in a few high end shops. But, after reading a lot of the reviews that the amp is subjective to listner, speaker pairing, and type of head unit, I figured that for the money and the 30 day trial, to give the 770 a shot. Once I did, I was happy and never regretted it. Also, look at the price of the 770 for the features it offers. I will take more AMP power in a heartbeat if the two price points are similar as are the rest of the features. Granted, the 770 is overly simple in features, it fits my build. And double the power really makes itself known in the low end on my full range 8 ohm Infinity's. I upset my wife even more with the new amp

Ended up ordering a Anthem PVA 5. Like the Outlaw, it is very highly reviewed, but supposedly though a few watts shy, is more refined and musical. We'll see. Swapped out the Denon 2 channel for a vintage silverfaced Kenwood double metered monster, KA9100, for channels 6+7.

I'll report back. Thanks
