Just wondering if it is possible to get the 1050 to use the sub in 5.1 direct.

The LFE icon comes on but I cant get any sound out of that channel.

If this is possible please let me know. IF not, I think it would be a great feature to add in the new units.

The 1050 should be able to use the sub with the 5.1 direct input. There will be cases, though, when the sub would not get any signal through the 5.1 direct -- because this input bypasses the 1050's bass management, any source that does not include an LFE track will not send the sub anything at all. Are you using the 5.1 direct with a DVD player's internal decoder, or with a DVD-Audio player? In either case, double-check that the source is a 5.1 track (DD2.0 -- a digital copy of a Pro-Logic soundtrack -- may not include anything for the sub to do). You could even try connecting the sub directly to your source to see if you get any signal that way.

Glad I could get you squared away. It might also interest you to know that your idea of adding the ability to use the LFE portion of the 5.1 direct input has been included in the 950 -- they've added an 80Hz crossover on the direct input that can be enabled to send any portion of the signal below 80Hz to a sub (a pretty rare feature on direct inputs). It's not as full-featured as something like the ICBM's dedicated bass management or even what the bass management on the standard inputs for the 1050 can do, but it is available.
