I have a PS3 feeding the audio via optical to my 950, and the video via HDMI to my projector. You must get into the PS3 menu to configure it for this. The multichannel analog inputs of the 950 are occupied by the audio feed from my Yamaha combi cd/sacd/dvd audio player. As noted by Gonk, this arrangement will only pass the "core" soundtracks. However, you can set the 950 to expand a 5.1 soundtrack to 7.1 if desired.
