I've recently got into a DVD-A/SACD player and am trying to remember a couple things regarding the crossover. The switch on the back of the 950 activates an 80hz crossover. I'm thinking I should then set the speakers to large in my player's menu and let the 950 handle the bass management rather than the player. Does that sound remotely correct? Gonk? Any input?

Yes - I'd recommend setting the speakers to large and the sub to on in the player's menu and flip the 950's switch on.
