I will soon be purchasing an Outlaw 950 and want to know the benefits of using the 12v trigger. What exactly will it do?? Turn my amp on and off?? As it is, I leave my amp running, never powering down..... A long time ago I heard it is better to leave it on....debate is welcome on that subject as well!!

Thanks for the info.....

That is exactly correct - the 12v trigger will turn your amp on and off as the 950 is turned on and off.

My understanding has been that while tube amps may benefit from being left on or from being turned on 30 to 60 minutes prior to being listened to (to allow components to warm up to normal operating temperatures), solid state amps such as most of us use in home theaters are not nearly as affected by this. Solid state amps are also not as likely to be bothered by a reasonable amount of power cycling (by which I mean an hour or more between turning on or off - I wouldn't recommend flipping the power switch back and forth real fast), whereas tubes may be more prone to going belly-up when they are first turned on. The big benefits to using the trigger are convenience and energy conservation: you don't have to get up from your couch to turn amp(s) on and off, and you don't have to pay the electric bill for all the hours that your amps are on while everything else in the rack is turned off.
