Hey all! Been a while since I've posted in the Saloon wink What do you mean you didn't realize I was gone? Some people, sheesh. cool

I'm in the process of building a new sub to go with my 950/7100 setup, so I'm getting back into tweaking and have a quick Q to make sure I'm understanding the bass management correctly.

With the fronts set to LARGE and the sub set to ON, when I play CDs in STEREO I should get no information to the sub, since nothing is getting pulled from the mains, correct?

With the same setup using PLII instead, will LFE information be generated?

Now if I set the fronts to SMALL and play CDs in STEREO, I should get information to the sub, since the fronts will be xover'd and the "rest" of the information will be sent to the sub. Correct?

Basically I'm trying to get a setup I can use for both music and movies without having to change the speaker size every time. I would prefer to have the fronts set to LARGE if possible.

Thanks,

-Joe

That is correct, sir.

Since presumably PLII will steer some data to speakers that are set to "small" (center and surrounds), then there will likely be at least some data sent to the sub. How much depends on the source material.

Also correct. Best of luck with the new subwoofer!

Hmmm...looks like I'm going to need to start moving to multichannel audio wink

There's no way to associate speaker settings with input sources, right?

Nah, didn't think so. Such is life, eh wink I'll just have to fiddle when I want to sit down and listen to some CDs. It's like being a Jetson - pushing all those buttons is hard! smile
