I am thinking of getting into HT but have an existing system that makes it an expensive proposition, unless...
My current stereo mains are John Bowers active 1's, with the amps built in. I have no other speakers. Since they run off pre-amp signal, I would either need to get four quality active speakers (Pricey) or combine the active speakers with passive ones if I can run the mains off the pre-amp and the passive ones off the amp outs. Let me know if the 1050 can accommodate this at all and if so, would this will allow full features of the 1050.

Thanks

You could easily connect your mains to the pre-amp outs of the 1050 and use the 1050's internal amps to drive passive speakers for the other channels. It would be no different than someone using a good outboard amp to drive passive mains, as far as the 1050 is concerned.
