I have build in mine 950 in a cabinet where no IrDA signal is coming trough from the remote. What kind of sensor do I need to extend this? In the manual is nothing to find about model or type. Is it easy to make it yourself?

There's a lot that can be done with IR signals, but the 950 has worked well for me with a simple Xantech arrangement from that I picked up from HomeTech.com. I use an IR receiver sitting on top of the TV and a signal block (mounted to the back of the entertainment center, just behind the TV). From that I have several IR emitters stuck to the front of my devices (DVD players, cable box, VCR) and a cable (1/8" mono mini jack, just like the 12V trigger cable) running to the 950's IR input. Here are some notes on how I did it. The DVD players and cable box ended up each getting an emitter mounted over their sensor window, since that was the most reliable way to get them to respond.

Hello Gonk,

I use already a IrDA repeater for all of mine devices, but on a strange way the Outlaw 950 is responding real bad. Perhaps a 1 on the scale of 10 he is responding via the repeater. So I was thinking to use the extrenal remote jack with a simple IrDA eye. But that was perhaps a easy thought of mine?

Actually I think that's a good idea. Give it a try, see if it works better.

But do you know a specific type of IrDA "eye" what I can connect on the external remote? (instead using the first option what you are mentioning). Or does it need a voltage controlled something to work.

Maybe we should back up - you have some IR equipment already, can you point me to any information about the stuff you are using? Does it use an IR sensor with wire back to a distribution system of some sort on the closet?

I may be wrong, but it sounds like you've been using the infrared "eye" emitters coming out of an IR distribution connecting block.

If that is true, Per Gonk's [very informative!] setup, you simply need to buy a mono cable with 1/8" jacks on both ends. Replace the IR emitter at the connecting block with one end of the mono cable, and the other end plugs directly into the back of your 950 using the IR input jack.

Excuse me if I'm not understanding, hopefully this helps... laugh

Problem solved!

The IrDA (repeater) is not that luxury as the Xantech. I'm able to connect the transmitter with a connector on the Outlaw 950, but there is only one connector on the box.

So I checked the box by opening it.
There I saw 2 power LED's and 3 IrDA LED's.
I didn't know this and thought that the small IrDA LED was the only one and has to be connected on the (only) jack.

By removing this eye from the jack the 3 IrDA LED's are working and beaming all the info I need.

So I'm happy now.
Thanks for all the reply.

Jelte
