ive noticed that when i first power up the 950 and listen to anything it takes along time for the 950 to read the LFE.It takes about a minute to read that signal, is this normal of the 950?

That sounds a bit odd to me. Is your sub set up to auto-detect an incoming signal and turn itself on? What processing mode and source are you using when you see this behavior? I'm wondering if you might be listening to material where there is no dedicated LFE, meaning that the only sub signal comes from the crossovers, and your sub isn't seeing enough signal to kick it on until a spike of some sort wakes it up.

If the sub is always on (which it sounds like it is), I'd be curious to know what the crossover is.

What about the crossover setting for the main channels in the 950? That's likely to be the main source of low frequency for the sub when dealing with a stereo music source.

crossovers for the main are set @ 40hz. i have to be doing something wrong that im not getting a full bodied sound when im listening to lets say orchestral music if you know what i mean. that has a low end that you can almost feel, but it warms up the sound field.? i dont know??

40 Hz maybe to low, what speakers are you using?, orchestal music may don't have too much information below 40 Hz, you may try 80 hz or more but that depends on your speakers.

I agree with JulioCat - with a 40Hz crossover and a music source, you will very rarely (almost never) get any material low enough to generate a signal to the subwoofer.

What is the -3dB point for your main speakers? I've found that I get the best results with my mains crossed over at 60Hz, which is roughly double their -3dB point.

alrighty then!! Ive changed the crossover points on the mains to 60hz, center @ 80hz and the surrounds @80hz. WOW what a nice sound. thanks to all of you for your input. im a happy camper.!Thanks( Gonk for all your help). The Klipsch speakers are really a great fit with the Outlaw 950. Ill be reviewing all of my movies again and again as I have found that there was alot of sounds I missed hearing with the old set-up I had. What a difference. My next endevor will be with the SACD, of the denon dvd2900. Hope all goes well!. see ya and have a great day .

you could trying bumping up your gain on your sub a bit too, my subs were kind of doing the same thing, and that worked for me, wasn't getting enough signal to trigger the auto on.
