I'm seriously considering purchasing the Denon DVD 1600. It contains the Burr-Brown DACs. It seems to get rave reviews for audio and video. I'm currently using the Outlaw's onboard DACs for the sound with my Toshiba 2700. Does anyone know the type of DACs the Outlaw utilizes? I only want the Denon if I know there will be an improvement using its DACs for sound (music playback). I imagine the Outlaw doesn't use Burr-Brown DACs.

I beleive that the DVD 1600 is a DVD Video/Audio player so it for sure uses a 192/24 DAC. The DVd 1600 specs says 96/24 PCM output pass-through. I guess it depends on what will you use it for playing DVD-A's or just regular CD's. Well the only way to find out is to listen to it. This was in the Outlaw's FAQ page regarding the 1050.

Q. What type of DACs does the Model 1050 use?
A. The 1050 uses high performance 96kHz/24 bit digital-to-analog converters manufactured by AKM Semiconductors, a leading manufacturer of DACS for both consumer and professional applications. The DAC design includes 128x over-sampling and a 24 bit/8x digital filter.
