Hi,

I recently purchased a 950, and am not super familiar with speaker settings. I have three speakers, center channel, 2 mains. They are all paradigm reference speakers (60's on the mains). Currently I have them all set to Large. They seem to handle all the lows appropriately. I did not change any other settings (crossovers/etc) in the sysem config. Is this the right way to approach my set-up? I'll probably buy surrounds later this year, but it will stay in this set-up for a while.

Also, do I really need a sub? I feel like I am getting more than adequate bass from the 60's. It is really a 80/20 mix for music / movies for me, so I don't know if the sub is worth investing in.

I love this piece of equipment! It sounds amazing.

Thanks.

I ran a set of Studio/60's (v2) without a sub for a year and a half or two years, thinking the same thing you are. I eventually added a sub because of limitations in DVD-Audio bass management (I was losing the LFE track entirely). You don't have to have one, but I have found it to make a very nice addition for movies.

Thanks for the advice. At some point I'll definitely get a sub for movies. It sounds like in the meantime my setup is alright.

All the best.
