FYI: Went to Radio Shack last night to learn they had ONE of the old style analog SPL meters on the shelf- marked down to just shy of $15. This is the predesesor to the one that currently sells for $39. Other stores may have similar deals.

BTW, the Rat Shack analogue meter has a female mic stand socket. Using a boom mic stand I was able to place the meter right where my head would be. I too was surprised at how "off-balance" my speakers were. Nevertheless, as I've stated above, I'm constantly "tweaking" the levels to make different sacd's, dvd-a's and dvd's sound "right" to my ears. Anyone else notice the variability of the software?
