Hi guys,

I just got my model 950/770. WOW! I am replacing an Onkyo TS DX787 THX Select unit. Big upgrade in power and clarity. My question is how do you set the 950 when connecting a motorola digital cable box. It has a DD output for DD channels and analog outputs for analog channels. I have both connected, but have to manually change to the correct output when I am on that channel. My Onkyo would automatically pick the best connection.

Not being sure what exact box you have, my answer may not be relevant, but here goes. I've got a Motorola HD box connected to my 950 via digital coax, no analog connections at all. Even on broadcasts that aren't DD encoded, the audio still passes through the digital coax output on the box. Have you tried using just the digital output?

I had the same problem as Ray275. I would guess that Ray has a standard definition Motorola box, and we know that b-mill has an HD box. The HD box is converting the analog audio to digital, the SD box does not. What models do each of you have? I currently have a Scientific Atlanta 4200, and it doesn't convert analog audio to digital, so I too have to switch to analog to get audio through my 950 on analog channels, and back to digital to get 5.1 surround on digital channels.

I have the motorola standard definition box and am having to manually switch to analog for low channels.
