Hi all, I'm having a problem and I am looking to see if anyone on here might have had the same problem and may even have a solution.

I have a Panasonic 5 disk DVD/CD/MP3 player hooked up to the 1050 via Toslink on Optical 1. What is happening is that the rear surrounds, sometimes - not all the time, have distorted sound coming out of them. The fronts and center sound just fine. I have 5 identical speakers.

I have read a few posts on here of a few people having weird sound problems using Optical 1 but from what I have read it was only for DVD.

I don't know if this could be the problem but I am running my speaker cable in 3/4" copper tubing (up the wall and over to the speakers) because it looks much better than just running the speaker wire to them and going in the walls was not an option for me. Do you think that may be the cause of the problem?

Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

what kind of speakers are the surrounds? do you have them set to small if they are small speakers?

Some of the goofy DSP modes seem to have a bug where they get in a bad 'state' and form then on output distored (and usually loud) sound. The workaround is too switch modes. The fix - don't use'em - they're pretty much crap anyway.

I asked the Outlaw guys the question and the answer they gave me was that the DSP modes (some of em) were bugged for the surround speakers.

Oh well......I did like the "Natural" mode.

Yeah - natural isn't too bad - actually still use it sometimes if I'm in a different room or walking aroung the house - fills the room better.

Not a huge loss, really.
