I'm going for it. Gonna buy package 950/770 with 2 subs, cable and bass controller. I don't know much as I have never owed a system before. I will be watching a lot of movies and my daughter will want good quality music. I have spent alot of energy reading and researching to find the Outlaw equipment and now I would appreciate some direction to round out my system. I would like to have the ability to use 2 rooms at the same time. I need speakers for both rooms and displays. A front projector in on and a rear in the other. Help! confused
Thanks, Mike

The 950/770 is a great package, I own the 950/7100 and I am more than satisfied for the amount of money that I paid. Here are a couple of things you need to know about the 950 based on what you have written.

You cannot supply surround for 2 rooms simultaniously with the 950. Zone 2 allows you to listen to stereo music in one room while watching a movie in surround in the other.

I hope that I was helpful.

There is also built in bass management in the 950, so you may not need a bass controller.

I recommend Denon for your source components. The 2200, 2910 and 3910 are all great universal players for the money and start from $450.00 to $1200.00 depending on the player you choose.

The Samsung DLP and JVC D-ILA are, in my opinion, the best rear projection TV's for the money right now. Both give a great picture at a great price.

I have not researched front projection in 2 years, so I do not really have the knowledge to recommend any unit to you.

Outlaw cables are the best for the money period, good choice.

Speakers are a personal thing, what may sound great to one is crap to another. I recommend that you check out some of the previous threads at this posting to see what other people have in their system, audition them as many times as possible and choose from there. wink smile wink

Some 'full-range' loudspeaker manufacturers to research online:

Aperion
Ascend
Axiom
Onix Reference
Onix Rocket
Paradigm

Check out this loudspeaker comparison in a different section of the Outlaw Saloon. Some related discussion is here .

Take enough time and patience to be satisfied with the process and your final choice. Most of us end up living with our well-considered systems for many years.

Enjoy the journey!

This is an excellent place to get info on front projectors:

You'll also find reviews at:

www.projectorcentral.com

I have personal experience with the Panasonic projectors and like them very much.

If you're going with that kind of juice in the 770, allow me to recommend to you the Magnepan brand of speakers. I ordered a pair of their entry level speakers (MMGs) a couple months ago and have been thrilled with them. They require lots of clean power (the 770 is plenty) and at least 100 hrs of break in time......but wow, they are great! I love them for HT, which is my primary activity, but they excel with music reproduction.....if you grab a Denon player as was previously suggested (I have the 2900, myself).....get some Outlaw cables....and use the 950 in stereo bypass mode....I think you'll be pretty happy. I just recently added some rear speakers from Magnepan to match the MMGs that are designed to be wall mounted and very decor friendly.

Good luck with your system.....you've made a great choice with the Outlaw gear.....I love it smile
