I need a little help here, the 950 has a 3.5 mm DC trigger output and I am trying to connect it to my Panamax 5100 which has a 1/8" DC trigger input. my question is can I use an adapter to make the 1/8" cable on one end into a 3.5mm? is there a cable they sell at radio shack that is set up like this already? Thanks in advance.

I think the 1/8" and 3.5mm will be interchangeable as far as a Radio Shack cable goes. It seems they don't distinguish between the two and mostly just list the 1/8".

The two are interchangeable, as I have a cable with 3.5mm mono plugs at each end acting as the trigger between my 950 and my Panamax MAX5100.

I have had better luck with a mono plug than with a stereo. I am not sure but I think it may be important to use a mono, anyone know?

Mono is recommended and it is all that is required, since there is only one signal channel (rather than the two on the stereo plug). It's possible that a stereo plug would have trouble if one end was slightly too loose and the signal was traveling down one channel while the other end was looking at the other channel.

I can't seem to get it to work, it doesn't have to be enabled does it? I will go buy a different cable since I am using one I had lying around.

Check the jumpers on your MAX5100 first - the 5100 needs to be told what outlets to switch and what delays (if any) to use on power on and off.

I'm stumped, I have the 950 plugged into the "always on" plugs on the panamax. when I plug in the mini jack to both units it shuts down the panamax whether I have the 950 on or not. It is not getting the signal for some reason. I will try a different cable tomorrow.....thats the only thing I can think of.

Is this the cable from Radio Shack you'd use 42-2420 ?

It's 6' long, which could be useful, but for the stacks of three amplifiers (see plenty of other threads regarding this wink ), all the extra wire might be messy.
I could make my own. Would you use this connector from Radio Shack 274-287 or a similar but much cheaper jack from Parts Express And what wire would you recommend?

The Radio Shack cable you linked to will work just fine - that's the same one I've used (although I've currently got a longer one in place). You could also make one, as you suggest. I might look at some wire like this , unless somebody else around here sees a reason why it wouldn't work.
