Well, this may sound a little weird, but it's driving me crazy. Most of the DVD,s I watch are music DVD,s (kinda like being at the concert sort of thing). Anyway, I have a couple of DVD's that seem to only play 5.1 DD only when they feel like it - more often than not they play in 2.0, which is o.k., but I would like to be in "control" of the mode. Yes, I have checked the set-up to 5.1, and they still revert back to 2.0? Happened this afternoon. My Neil Young and Social Distortion DVD's would not play in 5.1 (they have in the past). So I try a Peter Gabriel - 5.1, no problem! What gives? Is my DVD player acting up? Are the DVD,s themselves to blame? Any help out there is well appreciated. Thanks. Jamesman

gonk, today I tried hitting the audio button of my DVD player while playing and it just won't let me do anything - just stays in stereo mode. For whatever reason, it just isn't picking-up 5.1 from these two DVD's. Not a big deal, just odd! Thanks for the help.

Sometimes it seems like my DVD player "remembers" settings like that when I play music DVDs, between stereo and 5.1 at least. It'll stick with the choice I made the first time I put the disc in. Even if I remove the disc it'll default to the mode I chose before. Well, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. I think it tries to recognize the disc. I don't seem to have any trouble switching over to the other version by going back to the main menu though.

No, I don't have another player in the house, but I could take a few of the DVD's in question over to my brother's place and give them a try. Thanks again.
