Hello everyone. I am a new owner of the 950 and would like to know if anyone has ever changed the faceplate. My wife hates the look of the grey and green and considering that Atlantic technology is a clone of the 950, I thought I would just order their faceplate and install it myself. Is this something that is easy to do? It seems to have the same placement of buttons etc.

Thanks,
Markus

The Atlantic and Sherbourn pre/pros use the same design as the 950, so in theory the face plates are interchangeable, but actually doing the change would be pretty complex (I've had the impression that the faceplate assembly actually includes the aluminum face, the buttons, the LCD, and a few circuit board that then all connect to the 950's main board). I don't know how readily you can order parts for the Atlantic or Sherbourn, either, or what this sort of swap would do to your warranty (probably nothing good, as you would be monkeying with an assortment of connections and such). If the green power button is getting to her, I think that some owners have covered it with electrical tape or such to black it out - I'm not sure how much of an improvement it can make (instead of "oh, it's a green button" you have "oh, there's tape or magic marker on your power button"), but it's a thought. Or offer to buy her something nice with the several hundred dollars you saved buying the Outlaw in place of one of the clones.

Thanks Gonk. I was afraid of that. I was hoping that it was just a simple metal plate that would just need to be swapped - that all the buttons, electronics etc. would stay on the unit itself and the plate would simply have cutouts for all the buttons etc.

I called AT and a replacement faceplate is $145 which seems reasonable. Maybe I'll try it sometime in the future just to see if it can be done
