Hi, this is my first topic here in the saloon.
I connected a CD player to the 5.1 inputs using only the left and right channels. When I engage the analog bass management, I got no sound from the subwoofer, but the sound directed to the mains are subtracted of the low bass.
Do I have to connect a cable to the subwoofer input to get bass from the mains redirected to the sub?

Thanx!

My first thought is to double-check the position of the bass management switch, because the behavior that you are describing would fit with the 950's analog bass management being set to "off" rather than "on". Also, I assume that your sub is connected to the 950's subwoofer output, correct?

Another option for two-channel analog audio with the 950 that you might also try (in case you have future need of the 5.1 analog input): stereo bypass mode. If the mains are set to "small" in the digital bass management setup and stereo bypass is enabled on an analog input, the analog signal is passed through untouched and a copy of the signal is fed through the digital bass management to generate a signal for the sub. Just an option - the method you are using currently should also work just fine.

Yes, the bass management was on and the sub is on the sub out.
It's strange because I can hear the bass coming and going from the mains as I turn on and off the bass management, but no bass is sent to the sub. The sub works fine on all other inputs.

If I use the bypass mode, woudn't I get double bass?

That sounds rather odd to me. I didn't think that a subwoofer input connection had to be made for the bass management to work, but I could be wrong. You might want to run this one past Outlaw support and see what they think.

The analog bypass mode can produce a double-bass condition. On the other hand, you have control of the crossover point being used, so you can set it close to the point where your mains stop being able to yield much bass (which is I suspect part of the reason that Outlaw doesn't consider the double bass condition to be a problem).
