Well, I've had my 950 up and running for a week now and I have adjusted to the new sound. This mated to an 855 amp is light years ahead of the Pioneer VSX-509S that I was using for the past 4 years. Finally I can enjoy the speaker upgrade I did a year ago.

Thanks everyone for their wisdom, patience and encouragement during this transition period.

Congrats, and I'm glad to hear that the 950 has worked well for you.

I think it's interesting how you put it. For as many people that really believe that break in/burn in exists, there are just as many who believe as you (and I) do, that it's your ears/brain/whatever adjusting to the new components.

The 950 is a great value and an excellent pre/pro. Enjoy!

Hi Kevin,

I do beleive that our ears/brain do adapt to the changed sounds of new equipment. Also, I strongly believe that equipment changes in sound quality as it warms up. Especially amplifiers until they are warm so, I am not sure about a pre/pro being both pieces of equipment are warning up at the same time does the changes in the amp mask the pre/pro changes? Or is the effect cumulative? I am not sure. I guess if the pre/pro has a headphone jack then it may be possible to listen for warm up charactoristics of the pre/pro.

And yes, I love my new 950!
