By "lack of 96/24" do you mean DTS 96/24? DTS 96/24 requires you to have discs with a DTS 96/24 audio track on them (rather than the regular DTS tracks, which are 48/24). There are a few such music discs, but basically there's not a lot of software available for the format -- and it seems like much of what is available is in the form of DVD-Audio discs that already have lossless 96/24 audio. Those discs will still play back at 48/24 with any regular DTS decoder (such as that in the 950). The multi-channel high resolution audio format war has been muddling along with DVD-Audio and SACD at the center of the storm, and I get the impression that DTS 96/24 has been left on the sideline.

EDIT: a search for DTS 96/24 titles on DTS's site yielded three titles: Canadian and US versions of Queen's Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 and a region 2 Japanese title "Tour of Misia".
