to say that differing audio gear sounds the same is ridiculous. perhaps they sound SIMILAR and some sound the same, but to say that every piece of gear is going to give you the same result as the others is plain ignorant. even with amps (likely the hardest component to tell a difference with) there are different sounding ones, if you dont think so then you havent used enough. MOST amps sound very similar, but all amps do not. a lot of gear (besides speakers obviously) is pretty similar, but you toss in a $100 sony with a proper audio companies pre/pro or receiver and the difference would be discernable.
