Began experiencing some audio dropouts last night and tonight with the 950. It is dropping out of Dolby 5.1 and DTS 5.1 momentarily - a second or two of silence - and then returns. Very intermittant(only about 3 times out of many hours of DVDs). Will check my cabling later (we are remodeling and it has been moved some) but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks!
Mike

Is it during DVD menu change? If so, then it is caused by different signals coming from DVD itself and 950 is adjusting accordingly. Every DVD I’ve viewed has different format mixed in for theatrical previews and menu.

This is in the middle of a movie. Of course, watched two tonight and no audio dropouts. I may have a culprit. Have a component video and digital audio switchbox. Hooked up two new units and when playing one it may be sensing the other. I need ot be sure the DVD recorder is off when I am watching movies on the Denon 5900. Will know if this is it in a few days/weeks, I guess. Thanks! Mike

This is not a typical problem. Since it sounds like you've added a new component to the system, we should probably start there. If it is mid-movie on a new DVD player, do you know if the player is interrupting the signal at layer changes? Are either of the new units sitting directly on top of the 950 (potentially creating a heat problem)? ------------------ gonk -- 950 Review | LFM-1 Review | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | Saloon Links

Hi, Gonk. No, it is not interrupting the signal at the layer changes. I really do think it is a setup as opposed ot a hardware problem in the 950. I have, as mentioned above, a digital switch box in the loop which I was using when my first multi-format player was in the shop. I now have a new one, and when time permits I will pull the switchbox out of the loop. It is auto-sensing and I have a feeling that it is associated with the problem. Will report back when solved. Thanks for the input! Mike

Hi, Gonk. I took the switcher out of the loop and so far two movies played without any dropouts. Hopefully, I have found the culprit. Will continue to monitor this weekend. Thanks for the help! Mike

Hi,
I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I have a Pioneer DV-47A DVD Player connected via a Coaxial cable. I get about once a movie (not at the layer change) a drop out. If I "rewind" the DVD a few seconds and play the area again, it plays fine.
Thanks,
John
