I recently had a problem where the 5.1 output from the SACD did not appear to switch/decode properly and all I got was the front 2 channels. Even when I ran the test mode on the DVD player, I got no sound from either the center or the 2 surround speakers.

I'm not sure if it was caused by the Denon DVD-2900 or by the 950 itself.

I eventually managed to get it to correct itself by setting it to decode the 3/2.1 from my satellite, then when I returned to the SACD all was OK.

Anyone else seen such strangeness?

If you switch to the six-channel analog input from a stereo mode source, you only get the front two channels. Switch from a source set to surround mode and you'll be fine.

As Gonk has pointed out, you have to be playing in a 5.1 surround mode before hitting the "6-CH" button.

Damn annoying bug that should be fixed IMO. One of my big complaints with the unit.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed that DollarBill had mentioned this in an answer to a previous post.
I think I will send Outlaw a suggestion to have system "quirks" added to their FAQ list titled "Tips, tricks and Troubleshooting". Lots of good people have identified issues and workarounds for them, the least they could do is document it for others.
