I am pondering buying a used 950. Would it be a mistake to buy used rahter than new? Are there improvements made to the new units compared to a unit that's a year old for instance? Thanks in advance for any help. Roger

If its a blue dot unit it should be up to spec.

As Jed M mentions, there was the "blue dot" revision that was included in all new units sold after 12/17/2002. There's also a software upgrade (chip replacement) from back in March 2003 that changes the DTS-ES implementation somewhat. If both of these are included, there's no reason to avoid the used unit. Even if it lacks the DTS-ES fix, it's probably fine -- you can get the kit from Outlaw for free and make the change yourself or get it installed locally. The warranty is transferrable, and a year-old unit would still have four years of warranty left.
