Do Pre Outs Break Power Amp Inputs?

I'm about to buy a 1050 so I'm working out the interconnection details. My left, right and sub are all self-powered studio monitors (Quested) so I'll be using the 1050's preamp outputs to feed their inputs. I would also like to drive a second set of speakers, out on the patio, using the 1050's left and right speaker outputs.
Here's the question: When I connect to the preamp outputs will I break the normal internal connection to the 1050's power amp, or will the signal continue to flow to the power amp? I can make it work either way, but it would be most convenient to use the L/R preamp and speaker outputs simultaneously.
Thanks, in advance, for your advice. I look forward to joining your band of banditos very soon.

I think the internal amps still work when the pre-amp outputs are connected. My 1050 will reportedly be returning on Monday, so if you don't get a more definite answer before then I will hook it up and find out. ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

Gonk,
Thanks for your speedy reply. Have you had a chance to check this out? Anyone else?

I had hoped to get my 1050 back yesterday, but just got it this morning. It's sitting on my desk here at work. I should be able to do a quick experiment some time today or tonight. ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

Yes, the power amps still function even when the pre-outs are connected. I confirmed this a week ago when I borrowed a 750 amp and was doing A/B comparisons by switching the speaker wires between the 1050 and 750. I left the 750 connected to the 1050 and the 1050's amps still worked.

Kevin,
Thanks a lot for confirming this. Now all I'll need is an in-line attenutator (Niles?) and I'll be all set.

Uh, I believe I meant an "attenuator". Still a bit early here in L.A.

This answers a Q from me too. I'm considering using the 1050 for amping the top of Studio40's and CC and letting a Parasound855 push the bottom. The Paradigm Studio40's have a biwire imput(remove a clip) They still pass through a crossover, so my only problem would be dialing in a balance between the 1050 & the 855(which has a pot on each channel). Any opinions welcome. Just looking for a cheap way to bi amp.

Forgot to mention- if the top is too hot from the 1050, I probably can't dial it down, since the amp outs are from the pre section and the 855 would `Turn down' as well. I think?
Any Thoughts ?

Hey Eric. I have the exact same components as you do. Have you had any luck with the bi-amping? How does it sound? I just have one wire running from the 855 to each speaker right now. Bi-wiring hasn't made much difference with my system, but I am definitely interested in trying bi-amping.
