Anyone had this happen to them? I'm sure its out of warranty by now, as this one is probably from one of the first production runs....but I am still disappointed.... especially considering the DVD player doesn't have optical outs either....

Never heard of such a thing on the 1050. The first production units were shipped in June/July of 2000 ... you're just about at 2 years if you got in right at the beginning. Call Outlaw this morning (monday) and talk to Mike or Scott.

Also, since you mention that the DVDP doesn't have a TOSLink out, why do you suspect the 1050's input has failed instead of the DVDP's output?

Good luck!

(Pat means June/July 2000, and it is a two-year warranty if I remember correctly)

I haven't heard about digital inputs failing, so it isn't a common problem. Coax-to-optical converters do exist, which would be one workaround if the the coax input has failed but the optical inputs still work. I'd check in with Outlaw first, though.

I'm sure its the digital input because I took my RP-91 out there (the Outlaw is my Father's), and swapping coax cables didn't work, but the optical from my player did. I just got off the phone with the outlaws, and
they brought up trying a different input with the coax....but I haven't tried that yet. They also report a 5/26/02 sale date, so I'm a few month out of warranty anyhow. But they are showing interest in figuring out whats going on.

Too bad I didn't see about the digital conversion box, that would have been cheaper than the new DVD player we wound up buying. Plus I am just about to make a partsexpress order too. Drat! Though it wasn't a total loss, as he now has SACD too. But he's the one answering to Mom about spending the money on new toys. *hahahaha*

Thanks for the replies!

5/26/02 sale date? Do you mean 5/26/00?

My piece of crap refurb Denon 5800 bought at Ubid.com also failed in the digital lock with a coax cable.

Currently it's at Denon getting repaired.
