as some of you may know, o had been working on a 3d cad drawing of the 1050. well just last thursday my families computer crashed. absolutly everything was lost, including my 3d model 1050. so i don't think i am going to spend that much time re-drawing it seeing that i never backed it up pn a disk. i just got the internet back today. i just thought i would let everbody know that my autocad 1050 will probably never get finished so knobody will get to see it finished. if you havn'e seen it and want to i have picturs of it at http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=821895&uid=555681

It's simple - just go to your back-up - you'll find everything there!

Sorry for the black humor (not really humor, eh?) but the number of computer catastrophes is getting worse and worse - first of all, people have more and more 'valuable' stuff on their computers going back years and years - and the viri (?) are getting worse and more insidious - and quite simply people are just getting lazier.

One idea I have is to take the next 'old' computer I come across - put a big hd in it - and at least just now and then ( :-) ) make a transfer.

But there are some fairly good cheap back-up programs that 'usually' work (GrBackPro is one, if I recall

I think that was a bit of sarcasm, unfortunately -- indicating that we are all supposed to keep backups of our data, but many of us aren't very good about it (reminds me -- I need to back up the home box soon...).

I really hate to hear that your model went away. It was some impressive looking work.

if you haven't done anything to the hard drive yet a small program called lost and found could be a god send. it's made by powerquest (the makers of partition magic) and recovered about 15 gigs of 18 that i lost. let me know if you need more info. - david
