I ordered my 1050 on 5/21 and received it on 5/22. Setup was a breeze. I used the video essentials dvd and calibrated everything.

I must say how impressed I am at what this $500 unit sounds like. I first listened to a couple of cd's I like to use as refernces. 1. Queens' Greates Hits (import-DDD); the 1050 made this sound great. The tightness and clarity of the 1050 made this sound like a different cd. Then on The Dave Brubeck Quartet "Time Out" cd, the warmth of the sax really came through on track 5 "Kathy's Waltz"

As far as DVD's are concerned, it only took one viewing of Saving Private Ryan to realize that I had made the right choice. The 1050 replaced a Pioneer d509s and there is no comparison. Now to get rid of the Pioneer.

It took me a while to decide to purchase this unit, but I see no reason why I will ever regret this. There is so much bang for the buck in this unit.

My only question for now, is there be a burn in period where the sound will mature?

Outlaw 1050
Toshiba SD4700 (dvd player)
Toshiba 36HFX71 (monitor)
Wharfedale's all around
AR sub

Thanks to everyone at Outlaw for making my decision so easy,
Del

Burn in period? Well that depends on who you ask. I believe there is a difference in the way my 1050 sounds after running it for eight hrs a day for a week. IMHO

I'm assuming this is done at the factory. Having worked with RF/DC generators we use to take the new product and "burn" (run it) for 24 straight hours. This would stress the unit enought to let is see what, if any, power fluctuations there were at a given set point. It also ferretted out poor workmanship in reference to soldering, bad components. etc...

Sorry I assumed you were talking about breaking in the reciever. I believe most amps, recievers, what have you, sound a little bright at first. I think the sound becomes a little smoother with time and use.

To me this is a must with speakers! When I build a new pair of speakers, I let them run for about 50 hrs before really listening to them.

Welcome fellow outlaw.
I have had my 1050 for over a month now. I also purchased some Paradigm Monitor 7 speakers at the same time. They all sounded good when I hooked everything up and they are Way Cool now. I mainly watch DVD movies so I have only listened to some CD's a few times. But when I did it was impressive.
My son visiting from college was impressed. I know he and his sister will check out the music side.
