Howdy Outlaws,

I am interested in understanding when the next revision of the 1050 is. I would like two, but in the past, people have asked for a few more tweeks such as programming the names of inputs, automatically converting S-Video to Composite and vice-versa, as well as other tweeks.

When does Outlaw plan to produce an updated 1050, say 1055, with the new bells and whistles? I am interested in an Outlaw at $499 for my bedroom home theater, but can not find on the site what the new low end model will be.

Outlaw has not announced any revision to the 1050. They have stated that they will obviously replace it with a newer receiver at some point, but they have not reported on any sort of timeframe for that or indicated what features might be included. They reportedly have at least two or three things in the pipeline, but no specifics are known. Maybe some of the folks planning to attend the show in New York later this month can pry a few clues out of the Outlaws, but even if they do I wouldn't expect to see a replacement any sooner than the end of the year, and more likely not until 2003 (that timeframe is just a guess on my part, so you may want to take it with a grain of salt or ten).

I hope Gonk is right. I am planning on selling my 1050 after my 950 arrives, sometime near the end of June. Any announcement of a 1050 replacement before then would knock the resale value down quite a bit. When is that show in New York?
