Right now I have a 950/755 combo as my room can accommodate only this. I'm hoping to be able to move up to 7.1 soon though. I'm planning on using 2 200s for my mains. Any suggestions as to how to hook up my remaining speakers to the 755 since I will have 4 surrounds (R and L sides and 2 rears) and no mains hooked to it. Does it really matter? Thanks. John

You mean which channels to use for what? It doesn't really matter -- you could put the rears on the channels labeled for the mains (assuming that the mains are moving to the 200's, as it sounds like they are) and leave everything else as-is. ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

I have that exact set up. I think my center is on the center channel the sides on the surround and the rears on the mains.

Here's my understanding:
The 755 has two toroidal transformers. If Outlaw uses them like most amp-makers, 1 is for the surrounds and center, and the other is for the mains. (They try to balance the power delivery capability.)
Seeing as how the surrounds get more content than the rears, having the surrounds as the mains, and the rears as the surrounds might make the most sense.

This is how mine is set up.. and it works great... I haven't had it set up any other way though, but I haven't ever had a problem thinking that the surrounds or back surrounds or center weren't getting enough power... always plenty

The 755 uses two different transformer sizes. The one driving 3 channels is quite a bit bigger. I imagine each channel gets the same number of "turns" in the transformers, so I think the channel assignment is probably moot. The transformers are located in the front of the 755 & boy you can tell. Almost *all* the weight is in the front.

That is true, but, ... I personally am very finicky about making sure that the center channel has enough power. Handles upwards of 70% of the content of movie soundtracks. So to me, still makes more sense to make sure the center channel is on the same transformer as the rears and not the surrounds.

I just purchased 2 M-Blocks to go with my 755. Both M-blocks have considerable hiss even with the preamp (Denon 3803) mutted and even with it disconnected from the amp input, while all 5 channels of the 255 are dead quiet. Are your 200's noisier than the 755 or are mine defective?? The hiss can be heard up to about a foot away from the speaker depending on ambient noise.

It could be a ground look hum, too - I'd check out the routing of my power and signal cables and try unhooking the cable if you have cable TV (a common source of ground loops). ------------------ gonk -- 950 Review | LFM-1 Review | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | Saloon Links
