Just watched this last night . The movie is decent if you can suspend a little disbelief but the DTS soundtrack is superb. The LFE is nothing short of stunning. A definite keeper!

Tried to get it from the library at lunch. They don't have any copies yet, and I'd have been No.363 on the waiting list, so it looks like "Hitch-hiker's guide", "Bourne Supremacy" and "Kung Fu Hustle" will have to do for now! laugh

I think Dakota stole the show!

I could almost swear that the neighbors were looking out the windows for a storm after the lightning strikes shook our house.

I like the DVD also, but I've read in other forims that it was the cause of many subs to fry. Did any of you have the same problem? I didn't. Just wondering. laugh

Nope. Sub's fine . It did get a great work out though....I love Dakota but I could have had a little less screaming.

I ended up having to turn my LFM-1 down a bit because of this movie. It was rattling the entire house even at lower volume levels!

I've had it calibrated where it was for at least a year, but this movie proved that the volume was up a little too high. Either that, or the kittens we're fostering decided to play with the volume knob and turned it up when I wasn't looking smile

I had to trn down my center and mains more than I did my sub. There are some really really loud scenes there. I hearthe Mr.& Mrs. Smith has really good sound also, can't wait to hear it. laugh

I just bought Mr. & Mrs. Smith and watched it the other night. The DTS soundtrack is really impressive. I haven't had a chance to audition War of the Worlds yet, so I have no reference for comparison.

Speaking of DTS, I'm constantly confused as to why certain studios do not adopt DTS. It seems to my ears that the audio on all DTS tracks is far superior than almost any Dolby Digital EX track - with a notable exception to the Episode I, II & III discs. Imagine the Matrix Trilogy in DTS... just my 2 cents.

Other than it being a bit "hotter," what exactly pleases you more with DTS? I sometimes switch back and forth and don't notice much difference other than the higher levels when compared to Dolby Digital.

Cheers,

I find the DTS to be a bit more seemless. It is definite louder so I subtract that from the equation but I think after comparing DD and DTS that the DTS provides a better, more fluid soundstage. Just my opinion. I always choose it if it is available.
