Hello,
I was sitting in our listening room with the system off. My 1050 was in standby mode, as well as my Atlantic Tech 162BPM sub. It is patched into the LFE pre-out on the 1050. Wierd,, but I heard a signal coming through the sub with nothing on. I heard what sounded like a phone conversation, or a radio broadcast. At the low freq and volume, I couldn't tell. About a minute later, I heard the internal switch in the sub turn off - no more sounds.
Any ideas on how this happened? (BTW, I love my 1050!) Thanx

It's been such a long time since it's happened that I had forgotten about it, but I've heard what sounded like CB radio chatter out of my system before. I think it was before I had the 1050 though.
None of my components were turned on and it didn't last more than a second or two but it did scare the hell out of me.
I guess that doesn't tell you why it happened, but it lets you know that it has happened to someone else.

The old file server speakers at the office would sometimes play what sounded like walkie-talkie or CB radio dialog for a few seconds. Very similar to what kugumby is describing. They still do it every now and then, but it's not very common. My gest guess was that it was originating in the power supply, especially since it's done it before when it was hooked up to a sound card that didn't work at the time (no drivers installed). ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

I've had the same thing happen. Someone in my area has either a CB, or HAM radio. When he broadcasts at a frequency which is sympathetic to cable, or wire length, such as the windings of a transformer, I receive his signal. I have not been able to eliminate this problem. Any suggestions?

I also noticed another odd noise.
Turn your 1050 to about 40 or 45, and then hit the speaker select button on the remote. My 1050 gives off a high pitched whine out of the front speakers. It's not too loud, but it did get me wondering what the heck was up.
Anyone else have this problem?

I have not noticed a whine out of the speakers, but I have noticed that the remote itself makes a noise. Actually my wife noticed it. Thought it was interesting. Somewhat high-pitched sound from the remote for a few seconds (maybe the same duration the button lights stay on for?).

That's normal, snowman. I forget what the source is, but it has something to do with the light (I think!). Mine does it too, as do many others. Nothing to worry about!

I never heard a speaker whine while using my 1050. As Owl's_Warder says, the remote whine is caused by the backlight -- every remote that I've used with a backlight like that will whine some, although the 1050's is on the loud side. ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

My remote that came with the 1050 does not make any noise. My 1050 arrived four weeks ago. Did they fix the problem recently? It looks like the remote may be out-sourced and not an Outlaw product. Is that correct?

You are quite correct, drjdrum. The remote is an OEM unit -- the UEI Catalyst 48 . Several other receivers and pre/pros use it. It is possible that they've changed it to eliminate the noise, or at least mute it enough that you'd have to put it against your ear to hear it, which is the way the 950's remote is. ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review
