Base model with 2 digital inputs (one coax, one optical).

Add a very high quality (upsampling/oversampling) DAC, etc., - price it $100 to $150 more than the base option...

(look at Bryston - allows for a DAC option to their preamps and integrated amps , though that is very expensive at $1000 for the DAC..)


Why?

Lot of people have CD/DVD players laying around. Most have very "average" sound coming out of the analog ports. This option will let people connect any player digitally to the RR 2150.

People who have very good CD players can still buy the base model.

I would happily pay $800 for a RR 2150D...

That's an interesting idea! Another would be to develop a nice standalone DAC.

Good idea Gonk - I like the idea of a standalone DAC more - that way no changes need to be made to the RR2150 and Outlaw's potential market increases exponentially...

But how about a Room EQ + DAC box!!!! I am talking about something much better than "Audyssey" - strictly for 2 channel (and allows for sub integration). Going forward, almost every mid+ level HT processor/receiver will have 7 channel Room EQ. Surely, doing 2ch very well would not be very difficult...

The goal - something that does 90+ % performance/quality of the TACT 2150XDM ($3600+) - only at $998 ($649 + $349)!!!!
