Well I am kind of at a lose. Still tinkering with my new 1050. Just finished setting the delays and the SPL by ear. Seems I sure have to turn my volume knob up quite a bit to get to a decent listening level. That being around 30-45 depending on the source. A little info on my system.

Infinity SM-152's for mains
Klipsch KLF7 Center
BIC America 62si's for surrounds
Polk PSW 650 sub

Just how high does the volume knob go? 100?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Joe D.

Well if your used to a volume knob that only makes 1 or maybe 2 turns that is probably the reason why it seems like you have to turn it up more....because you do! The volume knob on the 1050 turns and turns and turns until you get to the level you want, 30 to 45 is not that high for me with mustic and people around I am in the mid 40's and when playin movies loud I run 50 or a little more. So fear not most of us here agree that the volume knob is a little freaky sometimes.

Hope that helps

for regular TV viewing I'll have the volume set around 35, I typically use the "natural" dsp. For music I just use stereo and will set volume around 45-50. If the lady of the house is out and it's time to rock, volume could see 60-65. As I recall the max is 80. Been there a couple of times and was blown away by the distortion free power. Awesome unit!!!!

From what I've seen in other posts, your volume seems normal to a little low. many people break 50, and a few hit 60. I don't know how high it goes, probably to 80 like pictureguy said. It seems to turn forever because the scale it operates on is linear, not logarithmic(?) which many other receivers are.

Well I feel a bit better then. I have to admit I do love the sound quality I get. I am still tweaking the trim settings but overall I am quite happy with the 1050.

Since this is my first AV receiver and am still pretty clueless as to just how to get things set up to where the are optimal but I will figure it out.

The fact that my hearing isn't what it used to be does not help either. Guess that job parking jets wasn't the best thing in the world for me.

Thanks for the help

Joe D.
