Ok, let's cut to the chase. The VT-750, a seven channel by 50 watts VACUUM TUBE home theater power amplifier (why do I get this vivid image of Peter Tribeman rolling his eyes, while cursing the day that momma and papa Soundhound had puppies!).

It is so logical, it wouldn't be that expensive to make, and I bet they'd sell a bundle of 'em.

They need a Statement product.

How about it guys and gals?

Que me on a waiting list now. RETRO TUBE SOUND! GREAT IDEA (I'm In!!!!)

I always want to know what the wiser more esteemed Senior Music Editor types have had in AV (I've missed)IE: the sound of tubes!

But is (50) wots of watts for 90/91 effeciency ratings (mine).???

Or do they need to make it BIGGER!

By the by, whats a "Patent Applied For vacuum tube circuit" namely this? (See SH you have me searching in tiny moments now and then for those thin glass capacitated items!

I chose the 50 watt point for a couple reasons. The first is that it is an easy power level to get out of an ultra-linear output stage with two KT88 or 6550 tubes. Also, a tube amp will sound like a solid state amplifier with approximately twice the power, so 50 solid watts is all you would need, even with less efficient speakers than yours (which are actually relatively high efficiency-wise). You will note that the Outlaw 1050, with 65 watts, which in acoustic terms is negligible difference from 50 watts, is quite adequate for HT.

I'm not aware of any other 7 channel tube HT amps out there - at least at Outlaw prices.

Yo, Peter!! Your first VT-750 is SOLD!

And if you don't like the sound of the amp, nahh...not possible , you can always use it as a heater! Just think of all those tubes glowing nice and warm...

Just to think of what this might do for my 2-channel listening gives me the shivers.

One request, - status quo the dimensions per the 770. Put those tube sideways or something. (Although depth does not matter). Don’t want anymore accidents around here custom fabing a shelf.

Does this mean I get to go out and watch my electric meter spin!. Really bored with all that energy star stuff.

I don't think the VT-750 is gonna fit into a M-200 chassis, or a 770 one for that matter. It undoubtedly would need to be higher. Dear Lady, you must make comprimises to reach deputy SoundHound status! And hey, you live in George Bush country - no sissy EnergyStar stuff allowed in Texas!! There would be 14 output tubes, and probably 14 input / driver tubes. That's actually pretty manageable. A nice perforated top cover so you can see all the glowing things inside, a nice chromed bottom chassis and a brushed titanium flnished control panel. Heck, I know I'd buy one!
